Description
Doko Recyclers’ project in Bankatta created a cluster-based waste system with color-coded bins, community training, and links to local waste collectors to promote sustainable waste management.
Impacts
124
124 people (including 76 women), students, teachers, and cluster leaders were trained in waste segregation and management.
11
11 dual-compartment bins were installed, and over 400 booklets and visual guides were shared to promote proper waste sorting.
Local waste collectors were linked with clusters, and leaders were given tools and contacts to monitor and coordinate waste disposal.
Building on its initial phase, Doko Recyclers launched the second phase of the Madi Community Waste Management Project in Bankatta, Madi Municipality. This phase introduced a decentralized, cluster-based waste system by raising awareness, training stakeholders, and installing dual-compartment bins for waste segregation. Eleven community clusters were formed, each with a trained representative and color-coded bins for separating recyclable and non-recyclable waste. The project also provided visual guides, educational materials, and training sessions for residents, students, and leaders, while linking the community to scrap vendors and municipal collectors to establish a sustainable local waste management network.
